Digital x-rays (PACS)
Radiography, or X-ray, is the oldest and most frequently used form of medical imaging. Digital x-rays or (Picture Archiving and Communication System) has taken the place of old films that could deteriorate with age. Digital x-rays can be enhanced to highlight an abnormality and are stored electronically. The most common use of X-rays is to assist in identifying and treating fractures. Images of an injury can show our doctors even very fine hairline fractures or chips, while images produced after treatment ensure that a fracture has been properly aligned and stabilized for healing. Bone X-rays are used as an essential tool when we perform orthopedic surgery, such as spinal repair, joint replacements or fracture reductions.

EMG/Nerve Conduction Studies
Electromyography (EMG) and Nerve Conduction Velocity (NCV) are tests to help your orthopedic doctor determine how well your muscles and nerves work. EMG is a test that measures the electrical nerve impulses in muscles to identify poor nerve input or poor nerve functioning. NCV measures how well a nerve works and can help specify the site of a nerve injury. EMG and NCV are often performed at the same time to help diagnose nerve compression or injury (such as carpal tunnel syndrome), nerve root injury (such as sciatica) or other nerve abnormalities associated with pain or numbness.

Viscosupplementation
Viscosupplementation therapy is an approriate treatment for people with knee arthritis that has failed to respond to more conservative therapy. A solution of hyaluronic acid is injected directly into the knee joint to restore the cushioning and lubricating properties of normal joint fluid. It is useful for people who are trying to delay surgery or are not candidates for knee replacement surgery. Viscosupplementation injections are typically given weekly for 3 or 4 weeks.

XIAFLEX® treatment for Dupuytren's Contracture
Dupuytren’s disease causes an abnormal thickening of the tissue located underneath the skin in the palm of the hand. As the tissue thickens, it can form knots under the skin that eventually form a thick cord that causes the fingers to bend in towards the palm of the hand. Severe cases can result in the loss of hand function. Until recently, the standard treatment for severe cases has been surgery, which most often involves a long recovery and physical therapy.
However, a revolutionary, non-invasive injection of XIAFLEX®, an enzyme called collagenase clostridium histolyticum has proved highly effective in treating advanced Dupuytren's contracture. This enzyme relaxes and weakens the contracted cord, which allows it to be manipulated and broken. Following the injection and manipulation, bent fingers become straight and functional again. This office-based procedure is safe, relatively painless and is an excellent alternative to surgery.
